Get Well Gammons
A quick note of well wishes to Peter Gammons and his family on the shocking news of his brain aneurysm suffered Tuesday. Being a big baseball fan I have come to love Gammons’ work throough the years with the Boston Globe, Sports Illustrated and currently, ESPN. A lifelong Red Sox fan, Gammons ability to cover baseball as well as the Red Sox in a non-overtly biased way has garnered respect from the baseball and sports community alike. Gammons was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004, a long deserved honor for one of the smartest men in baseball.
Though Baseball is is love, music is his passion, and like me, Gammons is a big fan of Pearl Jam and other alternative bands, and of Rock ‘N’ Roll in general. His debut album entitled ‘Never Slow Down, Never Grow Old’ featuring several players and Boston GM Theo Epstein will be released next week with all proceeds going to charity.
I am hoping for the best, with Gammons now out of surgery and resting in Intensive Care in a Boston hospital. His influence on me as a young sports fan growing up, and the knowledge I have obtained by reading and watching him is truly great and I look forward to hearing him again.
I was probably going to buy his CD before, I will definitely buy it now. Get Well Soon Peter!
